The Norristown Fire Department would like to invite you to attend the 133rd annual Firemen's Association of the State of Pennsylvania Convention. This year's convention will focus on Firefighter Training and ALL meetings, the memorial and training will be held at the Montgomery County Fire Academy. The Convention Parade will wind through the Historic West End and Downtown Business Districts of Norristown.

One of our main goals in hosting the 2012 Convention is to help celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the Municipality of Norristown. Norristown's Bicentennial will be hosting numerous events throughout the year, with the highlight being the Firemen's Parade. Numerous civic groups, bands and floats are expected to join us in the parade; making for one of the largest and greatest parades ever to be held in Norristown.

PARADE RULES

• 1. The parade will be held rain or shine.
• 2. Registration will be open from 7:00 AM until 12:00 PM. No registrations will be accepted after 12:00 PM.
• 3. Apparatus placement within each division will be on a first come, first served basis.
• 4. Judging will be done on a first come first, served basis starting at 7:00 AM.
• 5. Registration, wipe-down and judging will be at the Norristown State Hospital, Gate 1.
• 6. Judging will be done by New Jersey State Fire Chiefs Judging Association. Decisions are final.
• 7. Judging identification card issued at registration must be displayed on passenger side of apparatus windshield, and on the right side of lead banner for bands and marching units.
• 8. All units parading will have ONE OFFICER report to the registration area.
• 9. Any member of his/her company who is the designated driver of his/her apparatus will be given a wristband to be worn during and after the parade.
• 10. All drivers will remain with their apparatus during and after registration.
• 11. Trophies will be awarded approximately 2 hours after the parade. All cash prizes will be mailed.
• 12. The parade will start promptly at 1:00 PM.
• 13. All participants will abide by all applicable local, state and or federal laws.
• 14. Any alcoholic beverages found on any unit during judging will disqualify that unit.
• 15. Any display or consumption of alcohol in the registration, judging, or staging areas will result in disqualification of that unit and appropriate action taken.
• 16. Sounding of sirens, air horns or bells in the parade line will disqualify that unit.
• 17. There will be no spot drilling or stopping during the parade to perform - units stopping or drilling will be disqualified.
• 18. Only one (1) representative with entrance pass will be permitted into the prize award area. Pass to be distributed by parade chairman on day of parade.
• 19. The 2012 Convention Committee reserves the right to remove any unit from the parade.
• 20. All participants are expected to act in a reasonable manner and respect the rights of all others.
• 21. Fire Company in parade shall be a single fire service organization marching as a unit.
• 22. Fire Department in parade shall consist of two (2) or more fire service organizations marching as a unit regardless of uniform.
• 23. To be eligible for State Association prizes, fire companies and departments must be members in good standing of the Firemen's Association of the State of Pennsylvania. It shall be the responsibility of the host company to determine eligibility of such marching units with the State Association secretary before the parade.
• 24. All participants of the organization described below and the organization itself agree to indemnify and hold harmless the 2012 PA State Convention, Norristown Fire Department, its companies, organizations, officers, volunteers and employees, from any and all liability for damage(s) or injury (ies) to any person or property arising out of their participation in this Parade and Convention held September 26-29, 2012 in Norristown, PA.
