Erik DeLapp
Erik is a firefighter with the Montgomery. He was the first person to
join the department after contacting us from the website; and is now
State Certified. He was born in Fairfield, Ca. He likes Pizza and the
movie Super Troopers. His first major fire was the Town & Country fire.
At 9:00pm, Norristown Fire Department's Rescue and Ladder were dispatched to 1200 E. Dekalb Pike to assist Upper Merion Fire Companies during a 4-alarm carpet store and warehouse fire.
EAST CHESTNUT STREET DWELLING FIRE

At 1:30am, The Norristown Fire Department responded to a reported dwelling fire at 230 East Chestnut St. Firefighters had heavy fire on the second floor of a three story middle of the row. Fire extended via a pipe chase to the third floor and roof. The department was in service for over 4 hours. No injuries were reported; however damage was did extend to homes on both sides of the fire building.
HOUSE FIRE ON HARTRANFT AVENUE

At 1230 hours, the Norristown Fire Department responded to 20 Hartranft Ave for a dwelling fire. Upon arrival firefighters had heavy smoke showing from the second floor of a two story middle of the row. Firefighters made a quick knock down and held the fire to one bedroom.
CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING

At 1000 hours, the Norristown Fire Department was dispatched to the 600 blk of Corson St. for Carbon Monoxide incident. Upon arrival firefighter were met by Norristown Police Officer Eric Gergel who was carring two unresponsive children out the front door. Firefighters took the children and administered Oxygen until medics arrived. The two children and their parents were all flown to Philadelphia Hospitals were they will recover.
ANNUAL MEMORIAL SERVICE

Norristown firefighters assemble for the annual memorial service which was held at St. Francis Church. Chaplin Kevin Trautner praised our firefighters for their endless service to the community. A reception was held following the service at the Hancock Fire Company.
CAR FIRE

At 2200 hours, the Norristown Fire Department was dispatched to the rear alley of the 200 blk Minor St. Upon arrival firefighters found a 2000 Mercedes Benz fully involved in fire. After an attempt to extinguish the fire with water from an 1 3/4 line, the fire flashed. Dry Chemical and additional water eventually extinguished the fire.
