COMPLETE FIREFIGHTER CERTIFICATION

In order to receive national certification, both Erik and Robert had to complete over 144 hours of academy based training and successfully pass both a written and practical exam.

Presenting their certification is Richard Williams, past Chief of the Norristown Fire Department and current Chairman of the Montgomery County Fire Advisory Board.

NORRISTOWN ASSISTS PLYMOUTH TOWNSHIP
Date: 12/12/07 At approximately 9:30 pm, Ladder 27 and Engine 27-3 were dispatched on the second alarm for a warehouse fire in Plymouth Township. Norristown firefighters arrived to find first alarm companies battling a large warehouse fire. Ladder 27 was tasked with roof operations on an exposed building while Engine 27-3 assisted with water supply.

A NIGHT OF HONORS
Date: 12/4/07 At Tuesday Night's Norristown Municipal Meeting, members of the Norristown Fire Department and Hancock School Student, Devynn Mahoney, were honored for saving lives during the Town and Country Fire that occurred on November 8, 2007. Norristown Fire Fighter Charmous Skinner was honored for single handedly grabbing and raising a 24ft ladder and then assisting a victim out a third floor window while smoke poured from the window.

Eight year old, Devynn Mahoney was honored for saving his family by showing them how to escape the fire floor safely by staying low. Devynn's Family lived across the hallway from the apartment that was on fire. There was heavy black smoke in the hallway and the Mahoney Family had to get out. Devynn told his family to crawl because that was what he was taught by the firemen when they came to his school. Fire Fighters Chris Valerio, John Gallagher, Charmous Skinner, Battalion Chief Chris Cossman and Fire Marshal Andy Tomcho were those fireman who demonstrated the proper technique for exiting a burning building when they brought the Fire Safety Trailer to the Hancock School. Those firefighters also received honors.

Norristown Fire Fighters put hundreds of students through the Fire Safety Trailer each year in the hopes that all children will react as "Heads Up" as Devynn. GREAT JOB DEVYNN!
